There has been an ongoing slowdown in the purchase, development and delivery of large land parcels in Perth which has the potential to worsen Perth’s predicted housing shortage.

In recent reports, ABS statistics indicate the Perth population will grow by an average of 1.85 percent in the next 20 years, taking the population to 2.49 million by 2030 which is an increase of approximately 727,000 people. Based on an average of 2.5 people per dwelling, the Perth region will need about 280,000 homes in the next 20 years which greatly exceeds the 40,000+ lots which the WA Planning Commission has recorded as having conditional approval.
